Ready for Pride 2025?

September 27th is coming! I wrote the complete guide - parade tips, year-round queer spots, DayTrip's comeback, and my hour-by-hour weekend playbook.

Thinking of Moving Here?

Look, I get it. You're probably scrolling through this at 2am wondering if Asheville is your escape plan. I did the same thing five years ago. Start with my honest guide or jump straight to neighborhoods - either way, I'll tell you what the other sites won't.

Hi, I'm Dylan

I'm the one behind GayAsheville.com.

You'll find me running the RAD greenway at 5:30am, playing volleyball at Highland, or hunting down the best cortado in town. I moved here from Boston in 2019 and fell hard for these mountains.

This site? It's everything I wish I'd had when I moved here as a gay man. The real stuff - where to find queer community, which spots are actually LGBTQ+-friendly, what neighborhoods have sidewalks. The things Google won't tell you.

Whether you're moving here or already call Asheville home, I genuinely believe everyone deserves to find their perfect place in these mountains.

Why Asheville Hits Different

It's not just the mountains (though they help)

Casually Queer

No one blinks at pride flags here. It's naturally woven into the city fabric - not performative, just real.

Nature Access

My actual Tuesday: 6am trail run, 2pm coffee meeting, 8pm volleyball. This is normal here.

Coffee Culture

I work from 6 different cafes. Everyone does. The cortado game is unmatched.

Real Community

It took me a year to find my people. Now they're family. That's how it works here.

Arts Scene

I hit RAD studios monthly, see live music weekly, catch drag shows often. No pretension, just art.

Four Seasons

I actually use all four seasons now. Spring hikes, summer swims, fall colors, cozy winter nights.
